Our Staff

Brent Ferren and his family united with FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH as members in 1993.  He had served bi-vocationally as pastor for 18 years in three churches.  In 1996, FBC called him to be the Youth Minister and he served bi-vocationally in that capacity until October 2000, when the church called him as full time pastor.  He and his wife Jeanne have four adult children and have helped foster parent 13 others over the years. The role of the shepherd as outlined in Ezekiel 34 has become Pastor Brent's biblical job description: take care of the flock, strengthen the weak, heal the sick, bind up the injured, bring back the strays, and search for the lost.  Our pastor is a biblical conservative and is committed to a pulpit ministry marked by expositional preaching.  Foundational in the equipping of individual believers for kingdom work is the orderly and consistent proclamation of God's Word.  Pastor Brent loves the Lord, His church, and has a special place in his heart for widows and homeless children.

Kent Barnes came to the FBC family as our Minister of Music & Senior Adults the first Sunday in 2002.  Kent is a graduate of Howard Payne University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He and his wife, Gail, and children Carolyn and David, came to Glen Rose via churches in Texas and Arkansas.  Kent is an active member of the Singing Men of Texas and locally serves with the Glen Rose Ministerial Alliance.  Kent's impact on the FBC family was immediate.   Whether planning a summer children's choir camp, adult holiday cantata, or a widows' Spring flower tour, Kent's passion for ministry is obvious.  The FBC family is blessed to have Kent's Spirit-led leadership and influence.

Chico Ukle is the newest addition to our pastoral staff, coming as Minister to Children and Youth in March 2009.    Chico is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and brings 25 years of ministry experience.  Additionally Chico has worked in the public school sector with children grades  kindergarten through high school, as well as the New Mexico Children's Home.   Coming with Chico to the FBC family are his wife Eva, and children Hanna, Caleb and Chloe.  Combining the children's and youth ministries requires high octane leadership and we celebrate Chico's arrival to labor in these critical ministry areas.

Connie Scott, the FBC Ministry Assistant, is the glue that sticks it all together.  Whether keeping the office running in shipshape fashion, playing the organ or piano in the worship services, or singing specials, Connie does everything with a smile and an encouraging word.  She and husband Scottie have served faithfully in many capacities since uniting with the FBC family in June 1995.  Connie enjoys spending time with son Beau, her grandchildren and wrestling with her latest quilting project.
